Industrial Relations, Advisory & Support Services

In its role as an employer association, the QTA provides its members with a wide range of industrial relations information, business advisory and support services.

These include:

Industrial Relations Services:

The QTA constantly negotiates and lobbies at all levels of Government and prepares input to positively influence legislation and regulations that may impact upon our industry.

Issues include:

  • Representing members in negotiations with Trade Unions.
  • Representing transport industry employees within all Industrial Tribunals, including Federal & State Industry Commission hearings.
  • Developing employer policy on wages and employment conditions.
  • Monitoring Current industrial relations issues and their impact on industry.
  • Advising employer members of their rights and obligations under Federal and State legislation.
  • Providing current information on conditions of employment, wage rates, award details, etc.
  • Educating members on all aspects of employment law.


Business Advisory Services:

  • Advice on relevant Acts and Regulations impacting upon the operation of a Road Freight company. eg. motor vehicle law, environmental law etc.
  • Development of a transport industry cost index (utilised for rise and fall contractual arrangements) and owner operators’ costing manuals.
  • Provision of specialist advice from external consultants or like-minded organizations
  • capable of assisting members to improve their viability through improved management techniques and business practices.


Support Services:

The QTA provides its members with a wide range of support services. These include:

'The QTA Transporter News Brief' : This association newsletter is forwarded to all members on a regular basis. It factually and promptly informs members of the latest developments within the industry and provides editorial comment on current Government policy.

A “loose leaf” award service is also available to members to distribute information on the latest industrial award variations. Industrial Relations Bulletins covering general and specific issues are developed as necessary for particular industry sectors.
