Funding Programs for Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Industry - As at May 2015


Certificate 3 Guarantee

    • A government subsidised training place to support individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III qualification (see the Queensland Training Subsidies List current subsidised training)
    • Participants can be jobseekers, or existing workers on full-time, part-time or casual basis
    • Level of subsidy varies based on demand and skills shortage

User Choice 

    • Funding is available for the delivery of accredited, entry level training to apprentices and trainees
    • Traineeships funded under User Choice include Driving and Warehousing (check the User Choice 2014 – 2015 Qualification and Price List for the most current information)

Industry Partnerships Strategy

    • Funding is available (max $400 000 per project) for support strategies (for example literacy/numeracy/mentoring) that facilitate the completion of qualifications under the Queensland VET Investment Funding
    • Expectation of 50:50 financial co-contribution towards the cost of support strategies
    • Two funding rounds each financial year

Funding Incentives - Industry Partnerships Strategy

Indigenous Training Strategy

    • Funding is available to eligible organisations including private companies, to deliver regional and community-based training projects to achieve training outcomes and employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants
    • Complements the Certificate 3 Guarantee and the Higher Level Skills program, by providing extra resources and support to help eligible Indigenous participants complete their training, attain a qualification and move into employment
    • Two funding rounds each financial year

FEDERAL FUNDING - Industry Skills Fund

Growth Stream 

    • Targets businesses preparing to take up growth opportunities that improve productivity and competitiveness or assist industry adopt new or emerging technologies
    • $476 million to provide up to 200,000 training places and support services, including literacy, numeracy and mentoring for small to medium businesses
    • Types of training include:
      • nationally recognised training, accredited training, tailored training (both accredited and non-accredited), skill sets and full qualifications
      • innovative or tailored training that may not be part of a training package or accredited course (includes combinations of training modules to form new skill sets and training tailored to meet specific business needs)
      • training to navigate export barriers and/or access foreign markets
    • Industry required to co-contribute to training costs. This is on a sliding scale based on the number of full time equivalent employees

Grants & Assistance - Industry Skills Fund

Youth Stream - Training for Employment Scholarships Programme

    • Supports training that meets the needs of your business and assists young people who are ready for employment, but require further training
    • Targets small to medium businesses with less than 200 employees
    • Up to $7500 for 26 weeks of job specific training for young people aged 18 to 24 years. Training can be various types of accredited, non-accredited or foundation skills
    • This pilot programme is available in selected regions (Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and Townsville)
