16 Jun 2016 9:56 AM | Administration (Administrator)

QTA recently published the below article in the QTA Transporter News Brief dated 7th June (Issue 19).  We would encourage all members read the detail below particularly in relation to B-Double Combinations / Trailers as these fees are reducing.  For those members who perhaps are using common due date for renewal in late June you may wish to rethink your renewal strategy to yield a savings opportunity.

Heavy Vehicle Registration Charges 1st July 2016

In November 2015 the Transport and Infrastructure Council approved the National Transport Commission’s (NTC) 2016 Heavy Vehicle Charges Determination to take effect from 1st July 2016.

The determination will introduce a revised calculation of charges, as well as instituting the formal separation of the regulatory and road use components of the fixed registration charge.  The regulatory component will be passed directly to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

The Queensland Government has decided that, from 1st July 2016 the registration concession will apply to both the road use component and the regulatory component of the registration charge.  This will continue to benefit those customers currently in receipt of the concession, especially primary producers in drought declared areas.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) provides an online registration quote tool which QTA Ltd members may find helpful to better understand how the determination may affect them.
