Driving Townsville's Future Program – A Great Success!

The QTA’s Driving Townsville's Future 10-day intensive entry-level training program successfully concluded last week, delivering strong outcomes for participants and the Townsville region. 

Program Success

Participants graduated after completing accredited units from the Certificate III in Driving Operations. Many are now progressing towards their Heavy Rigid (HR) licences and Forklift tickets, taking clear steps into meaningful careers in transport and logistics.

Feedback from the program has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong engagement from both job seekers and employers.

What does the Program Offer?

This accelerated 10-day full-time pre-apprenticeship program delivers accredited units toward the Certificate III in Driving Operations (TLI31222), with crossover into supply chain qualifications.

Key units include:

  • TLIF0009 – Ensure the safety of transport activities (Chain of Responsibility)
  • TLIC1051 – Operate a Commercial Vehicle (for eligible participants)

Graduates receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credits, enabling them to continue into a full Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeship, Bus Driver Traineeship, or Supply Chain qualification.

What is the Driving Futures Program?

The QTA Driving Futures Program is an intensive, practical pre-apprenticeship initiative developed in direct response to industry feedback. It addresses the critical shortage of entry-level trained workers in transport and logistics by producing job-ready candidates for the sector.

Transport Workforce Futures (TWF) – Queensland Trucking Association
