The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises heavy vehicle operators of the temporary closure of the heavy vehicle rest area at the Bruce Highway (10D) and Kalpowar Road intersection approximately 37km North of Gin Gin at Kolonga.
Works include upgrading the existing northbound heavy vehicle rest area and constructing a new southbound facility, with both rest areas getting parking for six heavy vehicles as well as new toilet facilities and picnic shelters, to support long-distance travel.
The closest rest area is the new Granite Creek Rest Area, approximately 26 km north of Kalpowar Road.
This notification is being provided to help operators plan their journeys and allow additional travel time where required.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been placed in advance of the works to provide early notification to all road users.
