The Supercars Bathurst 1000 will be held from Wednesday 7 October to Sunday 11 October, with heavy vehicle operators advised to plan ahead for increased traffic following the event.

In previous years, there has been a significant increase in traffic on the Great Western Highway between Lithgow and Katoomba on the Monday following the Bathurst 1000.

Due to the ongoing closure of Victoria Pass, traffic will be detoured via Chifley Road and Darling Causeway, with delays of up to an hour or more expected during peak periods.

Heavy vehicle operators are advised to plan ahead and, where possible, avoid eastbound travel between Lithgow and Katoomba on Monday 12 October between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Operators travelling through the area should allow additional travel time and monitor conditions before commencing their journey.
