NSW: Temporary closure of Mungi Mungi Hill Rest Area near Coolac

The Mungi Mungi Hill Rest Area on the Hume Highway near Coolac will be closed from Wednesday 20 May until Friday 5 June, for maintenance. 

The Southbound rest area will be closed for the entirety of the works, with reduced speeds also in place at times on the Hume Highway to allow safe access to the work zone.

Heavy vehicle operators are advised that the closest available southbound rest areas are:

  • Westaroo Rest Area - 9km north of the Mungi Mungi Hill Rest Area (approx. 7 mins)

  • Coolac Rest Area - 8.5km south of the Mungi Mungi Hill Rest Area (approx. 7 mins)

Unless specified otherwise, operators of Class 1,2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternate route. OSOM vehicles operating under the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass and/or Dimension Exemption Notices can use the available detours if they are suitable for their combination. Operators are reminded that under Schedule 8 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation (NSW), there is a requirement for the driver and operator to scope the proposed route prior to travel to ensure it is suitable for their vehicle.

Operators of Class 1, 2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
