Transport for NSW advises of the
upcoming weekend closure of Mount Ousley Road (often referred to as Old Mount Ousley Road) as part of the Mount Ousley Interchange project.

Works will occur

A full closure of Mount Ousley Road between Gaynor Avenue and the M1 Princes Motorway will be in place from 6am Saturday 7 February to 4am Monday 9 February 2026.

Travel conditions

During the closure of Mount Ousley Road, detours will be in place:

  • All vehicles will be detoured via University Avenue, Memorial Drive and Princes Highway and should allow up to five minutes additional travel time.
  • Southbound heavy vehicles over 4.6 metres high will be able to access the University Avenue overpass. Barriers currently in place on the University Avenue off ramp from the M1 Motorway will be moved, reinstating the pre-construction lane width of 4.5 metres.
  • Northbound heavy vehicles over 4.9 metres high will be parked up on Mount Ousley Road and escorted through the work site when conditions permit. Delays of up to two hours should be expected.

Please note

Unless specified otherwise, operators of Class 1,2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternate route. OSOM vehicles operating under the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass and/or Dimension Exemption Notices can use the available detours if they are suitable for their combination. Operators are reminded that under Schedule 8 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation (NSW), there is a requirement for the driver and operator to scope the proposed route prior to travel to ensure it is suitable for their vehicle.

Operators of Class 1, 2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
