The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises motorists of upcoming works on the Warrego Highway, Karalee between River Road and Mt Crosby Road from mid-May 2026 onwards. The works include a range of activities to support the ongoing Bremer River westbound bridge rehabilitation.

While works are underway temporary lane closures will be in place.

Oversized loads exceeding 3.5m width travelling along this section of the Warrego Highway, as well as SPV's (travelling bridge centreline travel) intending to use the westbound Bremer River Bridge, must contact the site supervisor Steve Hauschild on 0499 409 946, 24 hours prior to arriving to site.

Timing

  • Works are scheduled to commence in mid-May 2026 and are expected to continue through to September 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Sunday.
  • Night works are required for road user safety and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
  • While most of the works will be undertaken during this time, some out of hours works may be required.

Expected impacts

  • Temporary traffic changes include, road shoulder and lane closures, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds. TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.

TMR are continuously monitoring, assessing and reviewing our roads, bridges and culverts across Queensland. Conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather. Restrictions are implemented to maintain ongoing safety for all road users.

It is your responsibility to make sure you're using up-to-date information when you assess the suitability of your route.
