The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has advised that early works for the Gateway to Bruce Upgrade (G2BU) project will commence in November 2026 along the Gateway Motorway, between Bracken Ridge Road and Wyampa Road.

Work Hours

Works are scheduled to take place during the following hours:

  • Day works: Monday to Saturday, 6am to 6pm.

  • Night works: Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 6am.

Night works will be undertaken where required to minimise impacts on traffic.

Early Works Activities

Early works will include:

Establishment of work zones adjacent to the Gateway Motorway between Bracken Ridge Road and Wyampa Road, including initial earthworks.

  • Installation of temporary traffic management measures, including signage, barriers, fencing and lighting.

  • Temporary line marking and speed reductions.

  • Utility identification and locating works, including vacuum excavation where required.
  • Geotechnical and contamination investigations, including boreholes and test pits.
  • Vegetation surveying and clearing.

Traffic Impacts and Heavy Vehicle Considerations

Motorists and heavy vehicle operators travelling through the area should prepare for temporary traffic changes on the Gateway Motorway, Deagon Deviation and Bracken Ridge Road.

These changes may include:

  • Temporary shoulder closures.
  • Off-peak lane closures.
  • Reduced speed limits and changed traffic conditions.
  • Temporary signage and traffic management arrangements.

Heavy vehicle operators are encouraged to allow additional travel time, monitor traffic conditions and follow all temporary traffic management directions when travelling through the work area.
