Nth Burnett-Mulgildie Heavy Vehicle Stopping Area

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has completed a draft design of a new stopping area on the Burnett Highway which will provide an opportunity for heavy vehicle drivers to access Mulgildie’s amenities and services.

As part of this project, the 170m sealed shoulder along the Burnett Highway will be widened and sealed to encourage truck drivers to safely pull off the highway and safely park in Mulgildie as required.

The heavy vehicle stopping area will include a small sheltered pinic area where drivers can enjoy a short stop. The stopping bays are intended for short stops (about 15-30 minutes) to provide regular opportunities for drivers to stop, check their vehicle or loads, complete work  diaries if required, or take a short break to refresh before continuing their journey.

This project is funded jointly by the Queensland Government and the Australian Government’s Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, which funds infrastructure projects that improve the productivity and safety outcomes of heavy vehicle operations across Australia.
