Employee fairly dismissed for refusing to participate in on-call roster

A recent ruling has tested the boundaries of what may be reasonably expected of senior operational staff, when a Regional Supervisor refused to participate in a 5-week rotating weekend, on-call roster. While the employee asked for $50,000 “to go away quietly” and decided to make some noise after failing to secure it, they ended up speechless when the expectation was found to be reasonable.
