Freight Under Pressure: The NQ Conversation
Transport operators in NQ are managing rising operating costs, tight margins, workforce shortages and increasing regulatory and commercial pressures. Extreme weather events, road closures and damaged infrastructure can also disrupt operations with little warning—adding significant cost, delaying freight and limiting access to customers, communities and key supply-chain routes.
QTA is listening, and we are acting. Join us for our Transport Business Dinner, Freight Under Pressure: The North Queensland Conversation to hear the issues currently shaping QTA’s NQ advocacy agenda, including:
- Fuel costs and the ability to recover rising operating expenses;
- The impact of cyclones, flooding and other extreme weather events on freight operations;
- The condition, resilience and capacity of North Queensland’s road infrastructure;
- Road access restrictions, closures and approval processes that affect productivity;
- Sham contracting, unfair competition and commercial practices; and
- Fairer contracting and payment arrangements;
We encourage businesses involved in the freight transport supply chain to attend, as well as suppliers and other industry stakeholders for an evening of practical discussion, industry connection and a genuine opportunity to influence the work QTA undertakes for the road freight transport industry.
