Small Business Roadshows

The Minister for Employment and Small Business, the Honourable Di Farmer MP, will be hosting a series of Small Business Roadshows around Queensland between 2-17 February 2021.

These are a chance for small businesses to hear about programs already in place or being rolled out soon, and to share what your small business needs to recover, grow and thrive.

Women & Leadership Scholarships

Women & Leadership Australia are offering scholarship funding for women in the Transport & Logistics sector.

Partial scholarships of $1,000 – $5,000 are currently available for career building leadership courses.

Courses are available for women at all management levels. Register your interest by Friday 19th of March.

Road Freight Resilience

The Road Freight Resilience Program is designed by the Queensland Trucking Association to support current workforce development needs by offering transport and logistics businesses a range of short online courses (microcredentials) focussing on improving safety, efficiency and productivity.

The courses are structured around three key categories:

Get on the right road - giving businesses the fundamentals
Keep on the right road - increasing business capability
Explore new roads - identifying opportunities for efficiency and new markets

Courses will be available from February 2021, however you can preorder these now.

Driving Change Diversity

The 2021 Teletrac Navman Driving Change Diversity Program showcases diversity champions to the trucking industry and wider community through program participant stories, diversity training and a marketing campaign, promoting positive perception of industry and encouraging new entrants into the workforce.

Business Events Grants

The Business Events Grants program will support Australian businesses by providing grants between $10,000 and $250,000 covering up to 50% of costs incurred in participating at pre-approved business to business events as buyers or sellers during the 2021 calendar year.

Applications are now open for delegates to apply for financial assistance to attend and participate at exhibitions, conferences and conventions. Applications close 30 March 2021.

An expression of interest (EOI) for event owners to apply to have their event included on the Schedule of Approved Business Events is now open. This will then enable eligible businesses to apply for a grant to attend your business event. EOI's will remain open through to 26 February 2021 but may be closed earlier to manage demand on the Program or if all Program funds are committed.

JobTrainer scheme:

  • Free or low-fee training in a range of short courses and certificates.
  • Includes Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations, Certificate II in Logistics (up to 4 units), Road Transport Driver Skill Set and a range of other business related courses.
tafe Queensland are offering funded training as part of their COVID response, including:

Strategix - Free training in Logistics Skill Set
Skill Finder - A range of free online short courses and microskills.
Skills Focus Queensland - Free online training for COVID impacted Queensland residents.
Small Business Skills Hub - Free online training for COVID impacted Queensland businesses.
