National consultations on the three key initiatives of the Australian Government’s $525 million Skills Package Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow have now started, with co-design consultations taking place around Australia until 19 November 2019.

These initiatives are essential in building the foundation for long-term improvements to the sector and will ensure Australia is ready for emerging industries.

The National Careers Institute together with the National Skills Commission and Skills Organisation Pilots are also holding a range of targeted workshops around the country.

Transport Women Australia Ltd and Daimler Truck & Bus Australia Pacific have announced the establishment of a scholarship program for women in, or wishing to join, the transport industry.
The scholarships enable women within the industry to undertake a course that will advance their careers or expand their knowledge to enhance their current position, or give other women the chance to become part of the industry.
There will be four scholarships awarded this year with the winners announced at the Transport Women Australia Limited 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner on November 16, 2019.
The program opens on September 16th and the closing date for applications is 31st October 2019.

Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have announced that the IRC Industry Skills Survey and Call for Submissions is now open. Your input assists each Industry Reference Committee (IRC) that AIS support to develop an Industry Outlook. On behalf of those IRCs, stakeholders are invited to provide feedback via the methods below:
IRC Industry Skills Survey:
This survey is designed to gather feedback from stakeholders about a range of issues affecting your industry. This information will be used to identify any new or emerging skills. It can be completed online and should take around 10 minutes.

Call for Submissions:
The intelligence gathered during this process will assist IRCs to formulate their advice to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) on industry priorities, skill shortages, and will inform future discussions about updates to Training Packages. You can provide access to recent reports or answers to key questions by completing the online form.

The Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland (LRTAQ) is now taking nominations for it’s inaugural 2020 LRTAQ Inc. Young Person in Transport Awards.
Nominees must be under 35 years of age and be employed or contracted to a business which is a financial member of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland. The winner will be announced at the LRTAQ Annual Conference in Roma on 19-22 March 2020.
