STREAMLINING OF NATIONAL TRAINING PRODUCTS
The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has agreed to delete 975 units of competency and 46 qualifications identified as having zero enrolments over the past three years, following a direction from Skills Ministers to streamline the national training system. The training products will be deleted from the national register by mid-February 2021.
Complete lists of the units of competency and qualifications which will be deleted can be found on the AISC website. All RTOs are strongly encouraged to review these lists to identify training products they may have on scope, and subsequently, to commence work to update relevant course and promotional material.

The following Transport and Logistics projects have updates:
Aviation Industry Skills Project - The Australian Industry & Skills Committee (AISC) approved the Aviation Training Package (Release 7.0) at its meeting on 2 December 2020 and it is now referred to the Skills Ministers for endorsement.
AVI Remotely Piloted Aircraft Excluded Category Operations Project - The Case for Endorsement for Aviation Training Package (Release 8.0) has been submitted to the Australian Industry & Skills Committee (AISC) for consideration at its meeting in February 2021.
MAR Dredging Operations Project - draft training materials are available for comment, closing Tuesday 2 February 2021.

The JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme is an incentive for businesses to employ additional young job seekers aged 16–35 years.
Eligible employers can access the JobMaker Hiring Credit for each eligible additional employee they hire between 7 October 2020 and 6 October 2021.
Employers can register for the JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme from 6 December 2020.

Australian Industry Standards (AIS) is the Skills Service Organisation (SSO) appointed to support the Aviation, Maritime, Rail and Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committees, to develop training package products and skills and workforce resources.
The AIS is undertaking a stakeholder survey and is seeking feedback to help inform best practice in their work.
The survey will remain open until close of business Friday 22 January 2021.

The Business Events Grants program will support Australian businesses by providing grants between $10,000 and $250,000 covering up to 50% of costs incurred in participating at pre-approved business to business events as buyers or sellers during the 2021 calendar year.
Applications are now open for delegates to apply for financial assistance to attend and participate at exhibitions, conferences and conventions. Applications close 30 March 2021.

An expression of interest (EOI) for event owners to apply to have their event included on the Schedule of Approved Business Events is now open. This will then enable eligible businesses to apply for a grant to attend your business event. EOI's will remain open through to 26 February 2021 but may be closed earlier to manage demand on the Program or if all Program funds are committed.
