Updated works schedule for geotechnical investigations
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) wishes to advise changes to planned geotechnical investigations for the Barron River bridge replacement project.
Geotechnical investigations will now be conducted between Monday 21 July 2025 and Wednesday 17 September 2025, subject to weather and site conditions and contractor availability.
The work involves drilling in the road reserve on both sides of the bridge, and within the riverbed, to take soil samples.
You may notice additional noise and vibrations during work hours:
- 7am to 6pm weekdays
- 7am to 5pm Saturdays
- 9am to 4pm Sundays.
A barge will be used to access the Barron River. Please take necessary precautions and maintain a safe distance if travelling on the river while the barge is in use.
There may also be minor disruptions to traffic on the Kennedy Highway while equipment is moved on site. This will be managed by traffic controllers.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we carry out these investigations.
More information about the new bridge can be found on the project webpage.
