FNQ: Gulf Developmental Road bridge inspections, Gilbert River bridge and Routh Creek bridge

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out bridge inspections on the Gulf Developmental Road at the following locations:
- Gilbert River Bridge, between Croydon and Georgetown: 2 – 4 December 2025
- Routh Creek Bridge, between Georgetown and Mount Garnet: 5 December 2025
The inspections are part of TMR’s regular bridge maintenance program to ensure the continued safety and reliability of bridges on the state-controlled road network.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, periodic full closures of the bridge will be in place. The bridges are scheduled to be closed at the following times, weather and construction conditions permitting:
Gilbert River Bridge
Closed 7:30am – 9:30am
Open 9:30am – 9:45am
Closed 9:45am – 11:45am
Open 11:45am – 12:00pm
Closed 12:00pm – 2:00pm
Open 2:15pm – 2:30pm
Closed 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Open 4:30pm onwards
Routh Creek Bridge
Closed 7:30am – 9:30am
Open 9:30am – 9:45am
Closed 9:45am – 11:45am
Open 11:45am onwards
Work crews will ensure emergency service vehicles are provided with access if required.
Variable Message Signs (VMSs) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
