FNQ: Kennedy Highway, Atherton 30 July 2025 - 5 August 2025

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out resurfacing work on a section of road on the Kennedy Highway (Mareeba - Ravenshoe), Atherton between Louise Street and Marigold Street.

The works will involve asphalt resurfacing to extend the life of the road pavement and reduce the formation of potholes. This will improve safety and travelling conditions for road users. To reduce the impact on motorists, the works will be carried out at night between 6 pm and 6 am.

Works will be undertaken from Wednesday 30 July 2025 – Tuesday 5 August 2025. Timeframes may be subject to change depending on the program of works and weather conditions.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, and single lane operation under coordination of traffic controllers or traffic lights while the works are carried out.

There may be times when access to properties directly adjacent to the works will be temporarily restricted. The contractor will contact impacted property owners directly, prior to any anticipated impacts.

Nearby properties may experience noise associated with the works, such as the sound of trucks, light machinery and vibrations while the work is carried out. The contractor will take all reasonable and practicable actions to minimise impacts and any disruptions to property owners, as well as other stakeholders.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
