Reminder - Night closure schedule for public holidays

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to remind road users of changes to Kuranda Range Road night closures during the Easter, Anzac Day and Labour Day public holidays.

TMR understands many road users travel during these holidays and have factored this into the reconstruction program.

  • There will be no scheduled night closures from 4 am Thursday 17 April until 9 pm Sunday 27 April 2025.
  • There is no scheduled night closure on Sunday 4 May 2025.

Night closures will continue as previously advised from Monday 5 May 2025 until December 2025:

  • 9 pm to 4 am on Sunday to Thursday nights.
  • No scheduled night closures on Friday and Saturday.
  • Scheduled traffic let throughs from top and bottom of the range at midnight (12 am).

TMR will continue to notify road users of changes to traffic control and night closures.

For the safety of road users, traffic control measures and single lane measures will remain in place.

Night closures are necessary for certain reconstruction works to be undertaken safely.

Cancellations or continuations of night closures are not an indicator of reconstruction delay or progress. TMR reviews night closures regularly with the preference to open roads wherever possible or safe to do so. Where it is not safe or possible to open the road during ongoing works, night closures are continued.

TMR will continue to provide updates to road users based on the progress of works or where significant changes in site conditions, closures or traffic management are required.

TMR would like to remind road users:

  • Stay alert, stay safe and drive to the conditions over the holiday period.
  • At road work sites, please turn on your hazard lights at the back of queued traffic to warn approaching drivers. Remember - last in, lights on!
