FNQ: Peninsula Developmental Road Scholarship - Applications now open!

Do you know an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student making a positive contribution to their community who has a historical connection to the Peninsula Developmental Road?
Encourage them to apply for a Peninsula Developmental Road Scholarship worth up to $40,000!
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is pleased to announce six scholarships are available in 2026 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students, with a traditional or historical connection to country around the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR), Cape York. Scholarships are offered as part of the Cape York Region Package (CYRP) Stage 2 and the delivery of the Peninsula Developmental Road projects.
High School Scholarships
- Four scholarships are available for students completing Year 10 in 2026.
- Scholarship holders will receive $2,250 to spend on education expenses:
- $750 for Year 10 expenses
- $750 for Year 11 expenses
- $750 for Year 12 expenses.
Tertiary Scholarships
- Two scholarships are available for students continuing or commencing tertiary studies in 2026.
- Scholarship holders will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years, whilst studying full‐time for education related expenses.
- Eligible qualifications include Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, Bachelor (Honours) Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.
- Any field with a connection to Transport and Main Roads’ core business is eligible (for example, but not limited to, construction management, engineering, cultural heritage, town planning, environmental management, communications, accounting and finance).
Eligibility
- Students must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with a traditional or historical connection to country around the Peninsula Developmental Road, Cape York.
