FNQ: Roadworks Notice: Vic Sivyer bridge inspections, South Johnstone Road

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out bridge inspections at Vic Sivyer bridge, South Johnstone Road on Monday 1 December 2025.

The inspections are part of TMR’s regular bridge maintenance program to ensure the continued safety and reliability of bridges on the state-controlled road network.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews periodic full closures of the bridge will be in place. The bridge is scheduled to be closed at the following times, weather and construction conditions permitting:

Closed              8:30am         – ​       9:30am
Open                9:30am          –       9:45am
Closed              9:45am         –       10:45am
Open                10:45am        –       11:00am
Closed              11:00am       –       12:00pm
Open                12:00pm        –       12:15pm
Closed              12:15pm       –       1:15pm
Open                1:15pm onwards   

Work Crews will ensure emergency service vehicles are provided with access if required.

Variable Message Signs (VMSs) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
