IR Alert 20 (Member Only) - New Sexual Harassment Legislation Introduced to Parliament
On 27 September, the Federal Government, introduced anticipated legislation that would further implement recommendations of the Respect@Work report. The legislation seeks to address and prohibit workplace sex discrimination, harassment and victimisation as well as empower the Australian Human Rights Commission to investigate complaints at their own initiative and refer matters to court. The following article summarises the legislation and what members may expect as the Bill passes through parliament.
