Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises asphalt pavement maintenance works will commence soon on the Bruce Highway at the Alligator Creek overtaking lanes

Works will occur from:
Sunday 14 December
– Thursday 18 December 2025
Wednesday 7 January
– Sunday 18 January 2026
Between the hours of 7 pm and 5 am

(All construction subject to weather and construction conditions)

What to expect during the works

While project works can sometimes cause delays for motorists, the changed traffic conditions at roadworks sites, such as reduced speed limits and lane closures, are essential for the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. Road users can expect the following changed traffic conditions during these works:

  • Single lane closures and moderate delays
  • Speed restrictions
  • Noise associated with the use of heavy machinery
  • Traffic controllers will be onsite during active construction hours to direct traffic
  • Access to all properties will remain open at all times
  • During out of work hours, two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the entire site
  • Once maintenance works are completed, motorists may notice traffic management signs still in place until all works including line marking, pavement markers and signs are reinstated
  • Advanced warning signs will also be in place on approaches to the work area, notifying road users of the changed conditions

Road users are asked to drive carefully through the roadwork zones, follow the directions of traffic controllers and adhere to reduced speed limits. All work is subject to construction progress and weather conditions. In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, activities will be rescheduled for the next available shift.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions and restricted access measures under the coordination of traffic controllers when required.

Variable message signs will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware in advance of the changed traffic conditions.

TMR would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding during these rehabilitation works.
