NQ: Bruce Highway, Ollera Creek Update
The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to advise that emergency works are underway at Ollera Creek on the Bruce Highway to reinforce the approach embankment.
Traffic conditions
- 6am to 6pm (Construction hours):
- Single-lane contra-flow with a 40 km/h speed limit.
- 6pm to 6am (Outside construction hours):
- Dual-lane open with a 60 km/h speed limit.
Once completed, the bridge will return to a 100 km/h speed limit. Works will shift downstream of Abutment B to prevent further scouring, and single-lane contra-flow will continue for 3 to 5 weeks.
Bruce Highway between Home Hill and Cardwell Range
TMR continues to monitor critical damage sites and prioritise repairs. Lane closures, restrictions, and speed limits remain in place to ensure safety until full reconstruction is completed.
TMR reminds all road users to drive to the changed conditions and follow signage for safety.
Woodstock–Giru Road
Currently Woodstock–Giru Road is open, but speed restrictions are in place at Walkers Creek due to flood damage. Emergency works will be conducted on both approaches to Walkers Creek Bridge on Sunday 9 March. Temporary full closure of the bridge will occur during the hours of 6am and 2pm, to allow for necessary repairs in the coming weeks.
Safety First
TMR prioritises the safety of all road users and workers. Heavy vehicle restrictions are in place to protect infrastructure and ensure the safety of road crews rebuilding Queensland’s road network. Failure to comply with restrictions may result in penalties and liability for damage to infrastructure or roadworks.
