NQ: Bruce Highway (Townsville - Ingham), Toomulla Intersection, pavement strengthening and culvert replacement works

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advise pavement strengthening and related culvert replacement works will soon commence at the Bruce Highway and Toomulla Beach Road intersection near Clemant.
The road works will occur from 6 am to 6 pm Monday 15 September to Friday 24 October 2025. (All work is subject to construction progress and weather conditions. In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, activities will be rescheduled for the next available shift.)
Roads users can expect further changes to traffic conditions during these works, including:
- single lane contraflow, managed under traffic signals with automated signals outside of construction hours
- delays of up to 15 minutes during construction hours
- speed restrictions of 40-60km/hr
- width restriction of 3metres or greater
- noise associated with the heavy machinery
- traffic controllers onsite during active construction hours to direct traffic
- advanced warning signs in place approaching the work area and notifying road uses of the changed conditions.
Wide load restrictions
Wide load restrictions will also be in place. Heavy vehicle operators with loads three metres wide or greater must contact the onsite supervisor on 0407908210 at least 24 hours prior to anticipated time of arrival to arrange for heavy equipment and other infrastructure to be cleared.
Variable Message signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work site prior to closures commencing to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather or construction conditions will be posted on the VMS.
