Source: Transport for NSW

There will be north and southbound right lane closures for Oversize Overmass (OSOM) on the M7 Motorway at Rooty Hill and Eastern Creek between 8pm Friday 29 and 10pm Sunday 31 August, weather permitting. This has been updated from just northbound right lane closures.

Contingency dates for this work will be from 8pm Friday 5 September to 10pm Sunday 7 September 2025.

Dual right lane closures include:

  • Rooty Hill Railway Bridge, Rooty Hill
  • Great Western Highway Bridge, Eastern Creek.

Detour

OSOM operators travelling under notice along the M7 Motorway in both north and southbound directions, between Old Wallgrove Road, Eastern Creek and Power Street, Plumpton, will be detoured via Old Wallgrove Road, Wallgrove Road, Great Western Highway, Carlisle Avenue, Woodstock Avenue, Rooty Hill Road North and Power Street.

OSOM vehicles operating under the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass and/or Dimension Exemption Notices can use the available detours if they are suitable for their combination. Operators are reminded that under Schedule 8 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation (NSW), there is a requirement for the driver and operator to scope the proposed route prior to travel to ensure it is suitable for their vehicle.

Class 2 and Class 1 vehicles up to 3.2 metres can travel through the site. Vehicles exceeding 3.2 metres must either use the detour or delay their travel on the M7 Motorway.

Class 2 vehicles will not be detoured and will remain on the M7 Motorway.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in their permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
