NSW: Changed traffic conditions between Penrith and Mount Victoria on Sunday 16 November

Heavy vehicle operators are advised of changed traffic conditions between Penrith and Mount Victoria on Sunday 16 November for the Vic100 cycle ride. 

Roads will be closed at various locations (see map below) along the course including:

  • Bells Line of Road between Bell and Kurrajong between 6.30am and 12pm. The road will reopen in stages with access reopened by 10am from Kurrajong and Bilpin, and 12pm from Bell. Traffic will be diverted via the Great Western Highway and operators should allow extra travel time.
  • The Darling Causeway will be closed from Bell to Mount Victoria from 9.30am to 12.30pm.  A section of Station St at Mount Victoria station will be closed until 1pm.

Local road closures will also be in place in Kurrajong, Jamistown and Mount Victoria including:

  • Sections of Old Kurrajong Rd, Crowleys Lane and Yarramundi Lane from 5.45am to 8.30am 
  • Old Bells Line of Road northbound between Grose Vale Road and Bells Line of Road from 6am to 9.30am 
  • A section of Harley Avenue near Mount Victoria station from 9.30am to 4pm.

Operators are reminded that under Schedule 8 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation (NSW), there is a requirement for the driver and operator to scope the proposed route prior to travel to ensure it is suitable for their vehicle.  

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in their permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
