NSW: Changed traffic conditions on the Central Coast Highway between West Gosford and Kariong

Heavy vehicle operators are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Central Coast Highway between West Gosford and Kariong for slope remediation work to be carried out.
The changed traffic conditions include:
- the ongoing closure of the slow lane and shoulder of the westbound carriageway between 9.30am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday until 30 November.
- Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 November there will be overnight single lane closures of the fast lane and intermittent closures of the slow lane from 7pm to 5am.
- from 30 November, the slow lane and shoulder of the westbound carriageway will be closed 24/7 for approximately 500 metres with traffic using the fast lane only for the duration of the work. Work is expected to take eight weeks, weather permitting.
All heavy vehicles including Oversize and Overmass (OSOM) less than 3.5 metres wide will be able to travel through the work area.
For vehicles over 3.5 metres wide there will be no access during work hours until 29 November and then no access 24/7 from 30 November until the end of January 2026. Detours will be in place for OSOM and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV).
A detour via Erina Heights, Shelly Beach and Chittaway Bay is available for SPV Level 3, 4 & Level 4 & 12 tonne vehicles. This detour will add 57 kilometres, or approximately one hour to your travel time.
OSOM with a load width of more than 3.5 metres under notice can use the approved routes to avoid the area as per the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) maps.
OSOM vehicles operating under the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass and/or Dimension Exemption Notices can use the available detours if they are suitable for their combination.
Location of work
Operators are reminded that under Schedule 8 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation (NSW), there is a requirement for the driver and operator to scope the proposed route prior to travel to ensure it is suitable for their vehicle.
Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in their permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
