NSW: Changed traffic conditions on Hume Motorway at Marulan
Source: Transport for NSW
From Monday 10 November to Thursday 18 December, concrete slab replacement work will be carried out on the Hume Highway at Marulan.
Southbound traffic will be diverted onto northbound lanes under contraflow traffic arrangements 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until work is complete.
A reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will be in place and road users should allow up to 20 minutes’ additional travel time. Weekend travel times may vary, however motorists should expect delays and allow up to 30 minutes’ additional travel time.
OSOM impacts
Over size over mass vehicles (OSOM) wider than 4.5 metres will need to use the designated pullover areas in both directions on approach to Marulan and call UHF channel 21 to arrange access through the work area.
There will also be no access from Hume Highway southbound to Brayton Road into Marulan town centre. The alternative route via Jerrara Road overpass, south of Marulan, is unsuitable for OSOM vehicles. All OSOM vehicles must continue southbound on the Hume Highway to the Hume Street interchange at South Goulburn to turn around and then travel northbound to access Marulan. This detour will add around 40 minutes to travel times to/from the centre of Marulan.
Impacts for all heavy vehicles over 19 metres
There will be no access to Hume Highway southbound from Marulan at Brayton Road. All heavy vehicles over 19 metres must access the Hume Highway northbound and continue to the Illawarra Highway interchange at Sutton Forest to turn around and travel southbound.
This detour will also add around 40 minutes to travel times to/from the centre of Marulan.
All heavy vehicle operators should note that the southbound heavy vehicle safety station at Marulan will be closed for the duration of this work while the northbound heavy vehicle safety station will remain open.
