NSW: Changed traffic conditions on Newcastle Road at Jesmond

There will be changed overnight traffic conditions on Newcastle Road at Jesmond from 7pm to 5am between Sunday 4 and Wednesday 7 May, weather permitting, including:
- intermittent single lane closures on the westbound lanes for Newcastle Road
- intermittent single lane closures on the Newcastle Inner City Bypass
Detours which may add up to 10 minutes to journey times will be in place including:
- Motorists travelling eastbound on Newcastle Road will be detoured north via the slip lane onto the Newcastle Inner City Bypass to U-turn at the University Drive roundabout.
- Westbound motorists travelling north onto the bypass will be detoured further west to U-turn at the Thomas Street roundabout, Wallsend.
During this time, vehicles with loads up to 4.5 metres wide and under 5.9 metres high are permitted to travel through the intersection on Newcastle Road at Jesmond.
Oversize Overmass operators with ground contact width wider than 3.2 metres and/or width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 1800 818 433 at least one day ahead of movement to avoid significant delays. OSOM are advised the project operates on UHF channel 57 at the Jesmond Interchange.
Vehicles travelling under permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
