NSW: Changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway and temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel

There will be a temporary closure of southbound lanes and ramps on the Warringah Freeway and a temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, weather permitting. 

Warringah Freeway

Temporary closure from 12am Saturday 26 to 6am Sunday 27 July, including: 

  • All southbound lanes on the Warringah Freeway between the Pacific Highway at Artarmon and Ernest Street at Cammeray.

Several ramps to and from the Warringah Freeway including:

  • Longueville Road access to Gore Hill Freeway southbound
  • Pacific Highway southbound on ramp
  • Reserve Road southbound on and off ramps
  • Willoughby Road southbound on ramp
  • Brook Street southbound on ramp
  • Military Road southbound off ramp
  • Military Road southbound off ramp.

Detours

  • Eastbound motorists heading to Cammeray, Cremorne, Balgowlah, Mosman and Manly should detour via Pacific Highway and Falcon Street 
  • Southbound motorists from Warringah Freeway should detour via Pacific Hwy and Falcon Street southbound on-ramp 
  • Southbound motorists from Reserve Road, Willoughby Road and Brook Street should detour via Pacific Highway and Falcon Street southbound on-ramp.

Temporary closures from 10pm Friday 25 to 5am Monday 28 July, including:

  • Mount Street eastern on ramp to Cahill Expressway: motorists travelling from High or Mount Streets to the Cahill Expressway will need to use the western on ramp from Mount Street to the Bradfield Highway instead and detour through the CBD, via the Grosvenor Street exit, Bridge and Macquarie Streets to the Eastern Distributor. 
  • Warringah Freeway southbound lane 8 (Cahill Expressway lane), between Ernest Street and High Street: general traffic and buses travelling southbound towards the Cahill Expressway towards the city will share a single lane. 
  • Miller Street southbound on ramp: use the Ernest Street or Falcon Street southbound on ramp instead.

Sydney Harbour Tunnel

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed northbound from 10.30pm Sunday 27 to 5am Monday 28 July and 10.30pm Wednesday 30 to 5am Thursday 31 July

The Sydney Harbour Bridge will remain open during these times. However, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is not open to Restricted Access Vehicles (RAV).

Operators of Class 1, 2 and 3 vehicles travelling under a notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternative route.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
