NSW: Changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway and temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel

There will be temporary closures of south and northbound lanes and ramps on the Warringah Freeway and a temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, weather permitting. 

Warringah Freeway - full southbound closure

From 10.30pm Friday 19 to 6am Saturday 20 September, including:

  • All southbound lanes on the Warringah Freeway between Pacific Highway, Artarmon and Falcon Street, Cammeray 

Several ramps to and from the Warringah Freeway will be closed including:

  • Reserve Road southbound on and off ramps
  • Willoughby Road southbound on ramp
  • Brook Street southbound on ramp
  • Miller Street southbound on ramp
  • Military Road southbound off ramp

Detour via Pacific Highway to travel southbound. Continue to Falcon Street for access to Sydney Harbour Bridge or Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Eastbound motorists heading to Cremorne, Balgowlah, Mosman and Manly should use Pacific Highway and Falcon Street.

Warringah Freeway - full northbound closure

From 12.30am to 6am Sunday 21 September, including: 

  • All northbound lanes on the Warringah Freeway between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Gore Hill Freeway.

Several ramps to and from the Warringah Freeway will be closed including:

  • Berry Street northbound on ramp
  • Falcon Street northbound off and on ramps
  • Ernest Street northbound off ramp
  • Miller Street northbound off ramp
  • Brook Street northbound off ramp
  • Willoughby Road off ramp.

Use the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Pacific Highway. Motorists heading to Mosman / Manly can turn right into Miller Street and then right again at Falcon Street.

There will be no northbound access to the Sydney Harbour Tunnel until 8am Sunday 21 September. Northbound motorists must use Sydney Harbour Bridge and Pacific Highway.

 

Other temporary closures include:

From 10pm Friday 19 to 6pm Sunday 21 September

  • Mount Street underpass: use freeway bus lane for access to the Cahill Expressway
  • Mount Street eastern on ramp to Cahill Expressway: Motorists travelling from High or Mount streets to the Cahill Expressway will need to use the western on ramp from Mount Street to the Bradfield Highway and detour through the CBD, via the Grosvenor Street exit, Bridge and Macquarie streets to the Eastern Distributor.

From 10.30pm Friday 19 to 5am Monday 22 September:

  • Berry Street northbound on ramp: detour via Pacific Highway
  • Ernest Street northbound off ramp: detour via Miller Street northbound off ramp
  • Falcon Street northbound on ramp: detour via Pacific Highway

From 10am Friday 19 to 5am Monday 22 September:

  • Miller Street southbound on ramp: use the Ernest or Falcon streets southbound on ramp

From 10pm Friday 19 to 5am Monday 22 September:

  • Right turn from High Street westbound into Arthur Street northbound: detour via Walker and Berry streets, Arthur Street southbound and Mount Street

 

Sydney Harbour Tunnel

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed:

Northbound

  • 11pm Friday 19 to 6am Saturday 20 September
  • 12.30am to 8am Sunday 21 September
  • 10.30pm Sunday 21 to 5am Monday 22 September
  • 10.30pm Monday 22 to 5am Tuesday 23 September

Southbound

  • 10pm Sunday 21 to 5am Monday 22 September

The Sydney Harbour Bridge will remain open during these times. However, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is not open to Restricted Access Vehicles (RAV).

Operators of Class 1, 2 and 3 vehicles travelling under a notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternative route.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
