NSW: Changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway and temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel

There will be temporary closures of northbound lanes and ramps on the Warringah Freeway and a temporary closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, weather permitting.
Warringah Freeway - full northbound closure
From 12.30am to 6am Saturday 4 October and 1am to 7am Sunday 5 October from Sydney Harbour Bridge to Gore Hill Freeway.
All northbound motorists from the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be diverted onto the Pacific Highway. Motorists heading to Mosman / Manly can turn right into Miller Street and then right again at Falcon Street. Northbound access to the Warringah Freeway will be maintained via the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, which will remain open.
Other traffic changes include:
10pm Fridays to 6am Saturdays:
- Closure of Berry Street northbound on ramp: detour via Arthur, Mount and Walker streets and Pacific Highway northbound
From 10pm Friday 3 to 5am Monday 6 October:
- Closure of Ernest Street southbound on ramp: use the Miller or Falcon street southbound on ramps
- Lane 4 of the Warringah Freeway will be closed before reopening northbound only for the public holiday. Tidal flow operations will resume from 5.30am Tuesday 7 October
- Northbound inner lanes of the Warringah Freeway will be closed: use northbound outer lanes
- Changed traffic conditions in southbound lanes travelling towards the Sydney Harbour Tunnel
From 6am Saturday 4 October:
- Motorists travelling north on the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Warringah Freeway will need to make lane decisions earlier
- Weekdays from 5.30am to 9.30am, northbound motorists will be required to use lanes 1 or 2 for Pacific Highway to access North Sydney, use lanes 2 or 3 to continue northbound towards Chatswood and Epping and use lane 3 to access the Military Road exit to Mosman
- Motorists can continue to access the Military Road exit from lane 2, however this access will close in the coming weeks. Motorists are encouraged to start using lane 3 for access to Manly and Mosman to learn their new route before permanent changes come into effect later this month
- Motorists can use lane 4 to travel towards Chatswood and Epping outside of these hours (5.30am to 9.30am).
From 10pm Saturday 4 to 5am Tuesday 7 October:
- One of three southbound lanes on the Warringah Freeway will be closed between Merrenburn Avenue and Brook Street
- Willoughby Road southbound on ramp will be closed: use Brook or Miller streets southbound on ramps
Closed until late 2025:
- Alfred Street North road from Kurraba Road to Mount Street: alternative access to Neutral Bay and Kirribilli from Falcon Street
- Mount Street to Alfred Street North: access to North Sydney and Kirribilli from Pacific Highway. Alternative access to Neutral Bay and Kirribilli from Falcon Street

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed:
Northbound
- 11pm Tuesday 7 to 5am Wednesday 8 October
- 11pm Wednesday 8 to 5am Thursday 9 October
Southbound
- 11pm Tuesday 7 to 5am Wednesday 8 October
- 11pm Wednesday 8 to 5am Thursday 9 October
- 10pm Thursday 9 to 5am Friday 10 October
The Sydney Harbour Bridge will remain open during these times. However, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is not open to Restricted Access Vehicles (RAV).
Operators of Class 1, 2 and 3 vehicles travelling under a notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternative route.
Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
