NSW: Temporary closure of Mundoonan Rest Area on the Hume Highway

Transport for NSW has been upgrading the northbound Mundoonan rest area on the Hume Highway at Jerrawa to improve safety and well being for heavy vehicle drivers.

To enable safe completion of resealing, line marking and sign installation, a full closure of the rest area will be in place from 6am Monday 17 November to 6pm Tuesday 25 November. Access will be available to the upper level rest area over the weekend of 22 and 23 November while no work is occurring.

Alternative northbound heavy vehicle rest areas are available at:

  • Reardons Road stopping bay - 6km south (approx. 5 mins) - temporary toilet facilities provided.
  • Manton Ridge rest area - 9km south (approx. 7 mins)
  • Yass Service Centre (sevices available) - 23km south (approx. 18 mins)
  • Windmills rest area - 33km north (approx. 20 mins)
  • Mystery Boulders rest area - 45km north (approx. 27 mins) 
  • Goulburn South (services available) - 61km north (approx. 37 mins)

Unless specified otherwise, operators of Class 1,2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternate route. 

Operators of Class 1, 2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
