NSW - Work completed on rest area upgrades and green reflector sites in the state's South

Transport has completed upgrades at five heavy vehicle rest areas and marked 14 new green reflector sites in the state’s south, as part of work underway to improve heavy vehicle rest stopping in NSW.

New green reflector sites

Transport has installed green reflectors at 14 informal rest stops to support heavy vehicle drivers to identify safe opportunities to stop, park, rest and conduct safety checks on their loads at the following locations:

Burley Griffin Way

  • 4 kilometres north of Binalong
  • 8 kilometres north of Binalong
  • 10 kilometres north of Binalong

Lachlan Valley Way

  • 17 kilometres north of Yass

Snowy Mountains Highway

  • 3 kilometres south of Bemboka

Princes Highway

  • 5 kilometres south of Cobargo

Olympic Highway

  • 8 kilometres south of Cootamundra
  • 5 kilometres north of Bethungra

Mid Western Highway

  • 4 kilometres west of Weethalle

Newell Highway

  • 2 kilometres north of Narrandera
  • 18 kilometres south of Ardlethan

Hume Highway

  • 4 kilometres south of Bowning / 7 kilometres north of Yass
  • 10 kilometres north of Little Billabong

Monaro Highway

  • 13 kilometres north of Cooma.

 

Rest area upgrades

The rest area upgrades have delivered solar-powered lighting for the toilet blocks and surrounds to improve safety for all users, and new picnic shelters to allow truckies to take a short break.

Sturt Highway

  • Berry Jerry rest area

Newell Highway

  • Beckom rest area
  • Bundure rest area
  • Marsden northbound and southbound

The new look NSW Rest Areas website is mobile-friendly with data updated to over 600 sites, enabling drivers to:

  • easily filter rest areas with the facilities they need,
  • view a comprehensive list of stopping opportunities, and
  • report issues via the new feedback button.
