QLD: Oversize Vehicles | Christmas 2025 and New Year travel restrictions 2026

The Department of Transport and Main Roads, together with the Queensland Police Service, advises all heavy vehicle operators that curfew periods will apply to certain oversize heavy vehicles across Queensland during the 2025–2026 Christmas and New Year holiday season.
Please note the following restrictions apply to oversize vehicles:
- An oversize vehicle or combination that requires more than one pilot, or escort vehicle, is not permitted to travel between 12.01am Friday 19 December 2025 and 11.59pm Friday 2 January 2026.
- All other oversize vehicles or combinations are not permitted to travel between 12.01am Wednesday 24 December 2025 and 11.59pm Friday 2 January 2026.
Christmas and New Year exceptions in the Queensland Access Conditions Guide
Exceptions to these Christmas and New Years restrictions may apply to oversize heavy vehicles and combinations in the Queensland Access Conditions Guide.
Before travel, operators must ensure they comply with the exception provided in the following sections or schedules in the Queensland Access Conditions Guide.
- Section 11.7, Oversize vehicles or combinations travelling in the Cooper Basin Regin (Appendix B) where travel is directly involved with or in support of liquified Natural Gas or mining activities.
- Schedule 1, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) up to 3.5m
- Schedule 2, Special Purpose Vehicles Combinations.
- Schedule 3, Class 1 vehicles.
- Schedule 5, Conditionally registered oversize vehicles or combinations, travelling to or from unplanned repairs to public utilities, natural disasters, and other emergencies.

Christmas and New Year restrictions for Agricultural vehicles and combinations
Separate Christmas and New Year restrictions apply to oversize heavy agricultural vehicles and combinations operating under the National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice.
Eligible vehicles must comply with Christmas and Easter restrictions published in that Notice which can be found in Table 20 under the National daytime conditions and holiday restrictions tab of the National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice Operator's Guide.
Oversize light agricultural vehicles and combination operating under the Safe Movement Guideline for Light Agricultural Vehicles, Light Agricultural Combinations and Drawn Plant refer to Christmas and New Year restrictions under that Guideline.
