Queensland Government acts to limit some regulation limits
The Deputy Premier has advised today that the Queensland Government is taking action to support the recovery of our State from the impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred event (the weather event).
On 4 March 2025, the Deputy Premier, The Hon Jarrod Bleijie MP, declared the event about to occur in South East Queensland to be an applicable event for affected Local Government Areas under section 275E of the Planning Act 2016 (the Planning Act).
The applicable event period continues to apply to the following Local Governments from 5 March 2025 until 19 March 2025 (inclusive).

The Deputy Premier has now decided to further declare service stations and low, medium, high industry or special industry uses that are a fuel distributor/retailer; abattoir or food processing facility as uses necessary to supply or manufacture critical goods as declared uses for the applicable event.
This means businesses that are service stations or industry uses that are fuel distributor/retailer; abattoir or food processing facilities may operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure essential goods are available for affected communities. The use declaration does not apply to all types of industrial uses (e.g. product manufacturing, sugar milling or refining, boiler making or engineering works).
