Road Conditions NSW: Sydney Gateway - variable speed limits and safety reminder

Source: Transport for NSW

Sydney Gateway has now been open for four weeks, improving connections from the port to the motorway network.

Variable speed limits

In mid-October, speed limits on some sections of Sydney Gateway will increase from 60km/h to 70km/h.

Variable speed limits will apply on Sydney Gateway and motorists should always observe the posted speed limit.

Important safety reminder

There are height and dangerous goods limitations on Sydney Gateway and in the M8 tunnels for heavy vehicles. Please check the National Network Map | NHVR Portal prior to travel.

Sydney Gateway

Sydney Gateway provides the option for trucks to by-pass local Mascot streets and use the high-capacity road network via St Peters Interchange (from M8 and from M4-M8 Link tunnels) and widened Qantas Drive.

No additional tolls apply from the WestConnex M8 tunnel / M4-M8 Link exits at St Peters Interchange to Airport and Port Botany. WestConnex applies distance-based tolling which means that motorists only pay for the sections of road they use. Linkt Toll Calculator

Class B vehicles can benefit from the truck multiplier toll rebate, receiving a rebate of one-third of their trip travelled on the M5 East and M8. Find out more about the Truck Multiplier Rebate Trial.

As you move around the Airport Precinct, please travel with care, follow directional signs, maintain the required speed limit and plan your trip before travelling.
