SEQ: Natural Disaster Program - Mount Lindesay Highway (Beaudesert to the NSW Border)

Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads

We’re reaching out to provide an update on road restoration works being undertaken by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) on Mount Lindesay Highway. TMR has completed significant works on the Mount Lindesay Highway, at Gleneagle and from Palen Creek to the QLD/NSW border restoring multiple sections damaged during severe rain events in 2022.

Slope stabilisation works continue at a site near Hardgrave Road. A 24-hour, seven-day-a-week single lane closure is now in place. It is anticipated this site will be completed by mid-December 2025 (weather and site conditions permitting).

Work is now underway on 22 new sites on Mount Lindesay Highway between Palen Creek and the QLD/NSW border that were damaged during the Southern Queensland Severe Storms (24 December 2023 – 3 January 2024). The works across these sites includes removal of silt and debris, slope stabilisation, drainage, tree clearing and revegetation and localised road surfacing.  Works are due to be completed by mid-late 2026 (weather and construction conditions permitting).

The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Restoration works will pause for the Christmas holiday period from Saturday 20 December 2025, and resume on Monday 5 January 2026.

For the safety of road users and work crews, lane closures and up to 10-minute holds will be required between 6.30am and 5.30pm weekdays, until works are completed, due to the limited road width available.

Please take care when driving through work sites.
