SEQ: Notice of works in Esk: Gatton–Esk Road and the Brisbane Valley Highway

Source:  Departmentt of Transport and Main Roads

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will soon undertake the following works in Esk:

  • A speed limit change at the Esk end of Gatton–Esk Road, including the section known locally as Middle Street
  • Signage updates on a section of the Brisbane Valley Highway.

Speed limit change

The existing 60 km/h speed limit on approximately one kilometre of Gatton–Esk Road, from the southern approach to Esk to the intersection with the Brisbane Valley Highway, will be reduced to 50 km/h.

Signage updates

Minor signage improvements will be undertaken nearby on the Brisbane Valley Highway approximately between East Street and Redbank Street. This will include adding additional ‘repeater’ speed limit signage on this section of road. There will be no change to the current speed limit through this stretch.

Works will involve replacing existing signage and adding new signs.

Works are scheduled for the week commencing 3 November 2025 between 6.30 am and 4 pm and will take approximately four days in total to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Motorists may experience minor delays during these works which involve single lane closures. Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits, shoulder closures and signage will be in place to safeguard road users, roadworkers and adjacent residents.

TMR’s contractor will endeavour to minimise these impacts as much as possible.

If you require additional information about these works, please contact Mr Ryan Peut, Operations Officer (Traffic Safety), on 5451 7055 or email northcoast@tmr.qld.gov.au.
