SEQ: Warrego Highway - Bremer River Bridge westbound barrier repair works
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be undertaking work to replace the damaged sections of safety barrier along the Bremer River Bridge westbound on Warrego Highway, Bundamba from mid-August 2025. The works are required to repair damage caused by a recent traffic accident in late June 2025.
While works are underway temporary lane closures will be in place.
Oversized loads exceeding 3.6m width and SPV's (traveling bridge centreline travel) intending to use the westbound Bremer River Bridge must contact the site supervisor Wayne Hansford on 0409 962 177 24 hours prior to arriving to site.
Work activities:
- Removal and replacement of damaged bridge barrier components (posts and rails).
- Removal and installation of guardrail.
Timing
- Works are scheduled to commence in mid-August 2025 and are expected to take ten nights over a six-week period to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
- Typical construction hours will be from 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday.
- Night works are required for road user safety and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
- While most of the works will be undertaken during this time, some Saturday or other out of hours works may be required.
Expected impacts
- Temporary traffic changes include, road shoulder and lane closures, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Nearby residents and businesses may experience short term increases in noise, and dust during the works. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used on vehicles for safety.
On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to do further work at the location to rectify any defects.
Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds. TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
