South Burnett - Rehabilitation works on Bunya Highway (Kingaroy–Goomeri)
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads
Works overview
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be undertaking reseal preparation works along a section of Bunya Highway (Kingaroy–Goomeri) Road between Birt Road and Memerambi–Gordonbrook Road in early October 2025.
The works involve treating sections of rough pavement before applying an interim bitumen seal. TMR will then return to site to place a final seal to waterproof the pavement and ensure durability. TMR will provide a timeline for these works in advance.
Variable Message Boards will also be used to notify road users of specific dates and times in advance of works commencing.
Construction impacts
Works are expected to take about two weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Works will generally be carried out Monday to Saturday, 6am to 6pm. Some periodic work outside these hours may be required. During construction nearby residents, businesses, and road users can expect the following:
- Traffic delays: Motorists should expect delays and are reminded to observe trafffic signage and be aware of changed conditions
- Roadside parking restrictions: There may be restrictions to parking on the road shoulder at some sites to ensure the safety of motorists
- Private property access restrictions: Property accesses may be temporarily restricted for a short period during the works. The team will endeavour to minimise access restrictions and will advise property owners of imminent access disruptions where possible
- Construction noise and dust: Heavy machinery will be used during the work period resulting in localised noise and possible dust impacts. The project team understands the inconvenience this may cause and will reduce these impacts wherever possible
- Changed traffic conditions: Speed restrictions, lane closures and detours may be in place during the works. Motorists are urged to drive to the changed conditions and obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions.
TMR thanks motorists and nearby residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation while these works are carried out. Up-to-date information will be available from the QLDTraffic website (www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au) or the QLDTraffic app (available
from your app store.
