Wide Bay Region: Reseal preparation works on Bruce Highway (Maryborough–Gin Gin) at Childers
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will soon be undertaking reseal preparation works along a section of the Bruce Highway (Maryborough–Gin Gin) between Lucketts Road and Wechsels Road in Childers.
During the works, Lucketts Road will be closed to through traffic (accessible to local traffic only). Southbound traffic from Lucketts Road will be diverted via Goodwood Road allowing motorists to access the Bruce Highway at Childers.
The works involve treating sections of rough pavement before applying an interim bitumen seal. TMR will then return to site to place a final seal to waterproof the pavement and ensure durability.
Works are expected to be undertaken in October 2025 and take about two weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Variable Message Boards will be used to notify road users of specific dates and times in advance of works commencing. Works will generally be carried out Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm. Some periodic work outside these hours may be required.
During construction nearby residents, businesses, and road users can expect the following:
Traffic delays: Motorists should expect delays and are reminded to observe traffic signage and be aware of changed conditions.
Roadside parking restrictions: There may be restrictions to parking on the road shoulder at some sites to ensure the safety of motorists.
Changed traffic conditions: Speed restrictions, lane closures, and detours may be in place during the works. Motorists are urged to drive to the changed conditions and obey all signage and traffic controller’s directions.
TMR thanks motorists and nearby residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation while these works are carried out. Up-to-date information on roadworks and closures is available on QLDTraffic and can be accessed via www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au or by downloading the QLDTraffic app (available from your app store).
