    Youth Futures Summit

    The Youth Futures Summit is a 2-day event at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) that will bring together hundreds of people nationally from diverse sectors and communities. 

    This Summit seeks to understand the problems and challenges young people face today in education, employment, and transitions from education to employment.

    The Summit will:

    • Draw together people from multiple sectors and communities that are reflective of the diversity of cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs that make up all of Australia
    • Be co-presented, co-attended and shaped by young people
    • Deep-dive into the challenges and identify what the solutions should be
    • Explore a number of different areas from education, training, job services, young workers' rights, and what the future of work will look like

    Gold Coast Careers Festival

    2020 VDC Teaching and Learning Conference

    The 2020 VDC Teaching & Learning Conference will be held on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 May 2020 at the popular RACV Torquay Resort on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The VDC has provided an annual teaching and learning conference for the past 14 years. The aim has been to focus on national and state strategic issues fundamental to excellent vocational education and training practice.

    The 2020 Conference program will consist of highly interactive concurrent workshops as well as high-profile keynote presentations on the theme of VET teaching and learning strategies for engaging with industry and learners. This follows the 2019 Conference vibrant success, with practitioners from public, private and community providers engaged, entertained and enthused.

    National Careers Week 2020

    National Careers Week is an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia and aims to celebrate careers, career development, career development services, and career development practitioners and to promote the economic, social and personal benefits of career development.

    Career development is a process of managing learning, work and leisure to progress through life. It includes gaining and using the skills and knowledge needed to plan and make informed decisions about education, training, and work. Everyday decisions and priorities affect career development. Ultimately, career development is about much more than jobs – it is about how to live your life.

    The objectives of National Careers Week are to:

    • Develop community awareness of the concept, benefit, and value of career development.
    • Raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes, and broaden horizons about careers.
    • Highlight the need for ongoing reskilling and upskilling to support careers throughout life.
    • Identify the changing nature of work and its impact on all Australians.
    • Showcase industries and the career opportunities available in them.
    • Provide opportunities to partner with key stakeholders.

    2020 Skills Conference

    National Skills Week 2020


    Now moving into its tenth year, National Skills Week will again set out to bring to life the positive messages, highlighting the talents, the skills, the career pathways and the value of apprentices and trainees across Australia to the wider public and employers. The week is dedicated to raising the status of practical and vocational learning, enabling all Australians to gain a greater understanding of the opportunities, their potential and how they can contribute to a successful, modern economy.

    Past years achieved much, with unparalleled media coverage accompanied by the practical inclusions of over 500 known events taking place across the country delivering engaging and inspirational messages, promoting the VET sector generally.

    Queensland Training Awards 2020


    The prestigious Queensland Training Awards, which celebrates top achievers in training in this state, will celebrate its 59th year in 2020.

    Across 14 categories, the awards recognise individuals and organisations that strive for and have achieved success, best practice and innovation in vocational education and training (VET).

    The awards showcase all that's great about VET in Queensland, with categories for apprentices, trainees, vocational students, teachers and trainers, as well as training providers and employers.

    Nominations are now open and close 31 March 2020 - Nominate now

    Regional finals will be held in July, with the State Gala Dinner to be held on 12 September 2020 in Brisbane.

    National VET Conference 2020

    The 2020 National VET Conference is Velg Training’s 14th National Conference specifically designed for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

    It will be held on the 17th and 18th of September 2020, at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (with pre-conference Master Classes available on Wednesday 16th).

    The theme for #2020NVC is Vision for the Future which will be explored through an exciting range of presentations designed for VET practitioners across the sector.  

    VET will play a pivotal role in skilling Australia’s future workforce, and this event is designed to assist VET Practitioners in proactively focussing on the future.

    WAVE Forum 2020

    The Women in Adult Vocational Education (WAVE) Forum 2020 will be held in Melbourne on 21 October 2020.
