Tamika Horan
About Tamika
As the Engagement Manager for road freight, passenger transport, and warehousing, Tamika will act as a key liaison between industry and government. Tamika's role requires her to stay informed and responsive to the challenges businesses face across the sector, from driver shortages and workforce pressures to compliance issues. Tamika encourages employers and industry stakeholders to reach out, as she can activley support you to address training and skilling issues and bridge gaps.
Tamika brings over 15 years of experience within the trucking and transport industry. She began her career at a family manufacturing business where the primary contract involved manufacturing truck sleeper cabins for Mack Trucks. As the Operations Manager, this role focused heavily on aftermarket modifications designed to maximise comfort for Australian truck drivers, recognising that many drivers spend more time in their sleeper than at home.
Tamika later moved into the role of Transport Manager at Neilsen’s Concrete & Quarries, overseeing a diverse fleet including agitators, tippers, and powder tankers. This position gave Tamika firsthand insight into the operational, regulatory, and workforce challenges faced by transport operators, as well as a clear understanding of how rapidly the industry is changing and how unprepared many businesses are for what lies ahead.
Tamika now looks forward to engaging with businesses across the sector to better understand their challenges and to work collaboratively on solutions that ensure the industry remains resilient through current pressures and future change.
PS. Tamika is partial to a meeting over a parmi 😉
