 NT-ROAD CONDITIONS UPDATE-RE: BARKLY HIGHWAY – IMPENDING CLOSURE 6PM FRIDAY 29TH MARCH

 Due to the deteriorating condition of sections of the Barkly Highway the road will be CLOSED to ALL HEAVY VEHICLES FROM 6pm tomorrow, Friday 29th March. 

To allow trucks currently on the road clear through the Highway, please be aware that Easter Friday 29/3 ONLY, the existing travel restrictions will remain in place:

 Eastbound traffic are permitted to travel between 7am to 11am. (NT to QLD)

 Westbound traffic are permitted to travel between 2pm to 6pm. (QLD to NT)

Then

 From 6pm Friday 29 March the Barkly Highway is likely to remain closed for 7 days to allow urgent repairs to be completed as soon as the water levels drop.

This notice supersedes the previous advice regarding single trailers only.

You will be notified immediately, should the road conditions improve on the Barkly to allow safe road train access.

Please be aware that the NT Road Report will not be updated until the Barkly is closed tomorrow evening, but it will close.
