TMR advises they are introducing new technology to improve safety on the Gillies Range Road where it intersects with Fox Rd, Wrights Creek Rd and Russell Pocket Rd.

The system uses in-road sensors, radar and cameras to detect vehicles in these situations, then triggers variable speed limit signs on the Gillies Range Rd. Once the intersection is clear, the speed limit returns to 100km/h.
Reducing the speed limit by 20km/h will:
This method - only reducing the speed limit when turning traffic is present - has been shown to have greater impact than a permanent speed reduction, with some drivers ignoring static signage over time if they do not experience the crash risk.
TMR has commenced installation of the required technology and expects to activate the system by mid April 2026.
