FNQ: Bruce Highway (Ingham - Innisfail) wide centre line treatment project

Road Conditions (02 April, 2026)

Source: TMR

TMR advises they will deliver an upgrade on the Bruce Highway (Ingham - Innisfail) from Dean Rd to Tully High School. This is the single largest investment ever made to the Bruce Highway and is focused on the critical safety improvements to high-risk sections between Gympie and Cairns.

When

Early works for this project were completed in August 2025. BMD Constructions has been contracted to carry out the main works on behalf of TMR.

These works started in mid-March 2026 and will be completed in early 2027, weather and construction conditions permitting. Crews will be on site between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

What to expect

The project will deliver an upgrade of the signalised Dean Road intersection, road and shoulder widening, the installation of wide centre line treatment, vegetation removal, culvert installations and extensions, and drainage and edge treatments, as well as an upgrade of signs, guideposts and line marking.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, and single lane operation under coordination of traffic controllers and/or traffic signals while the works are carried out.

Variable Message Signs will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware in advance of the changed traffic conditions.
