FNQ: Palmerston Highway reconstruction update

Reconstruction Update
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is continuing essential geotechnical repairs at two damaged sites on the Palmerston Highway:
- Site 1 (upslope and downslope) - 2.5 kilometres west of Crawfords Lookout
- Site 2 (upslope) - 1.5 kilometres west of Henrietta Creek Day Use area
Site 1 - Status
- Soil nailing is ongoing.
- A platform for piling works is expected to be completed in May 2025, site and weather conditions permitting.

Site 2 - Status
- Batter trimming has started.
- Further investigation works are underway after rock was found in the slope during routine drill testing.
- Soil nailing is expected to start in May 2025, subject to outcomes of the investigation.
Traffic Management
- Single lane closures
- Reduced speed limits
- Traffic control
